Enjoy a little Alpine magic off the pistes. You can explore the quiet mountain sides on touring skis, cross-country skis or on snowshoes, but also have some action riding a sledge down a tobogganing run.
Snowshoe hiking: Far removed from the hustle and bustle on the pistes, in the lateral valleys, snowshoe hikers will find a natural and tranquil experience. Local ski schools offer guided tours through the Zillertal Alps, incl. hire of snowshoes.
Ice climbing: The Zillertal is a paradise for climbers, not just in the summer. If you want to test your climbing skills on frozen waterfalls in the winter, the Zillertal also has dozens of icefalls in the Zillergrund and in the Zemmgrund waiting to be conquered.
Cross-country skiing: Through the Zillertal's wonderful winter landscape lead 125 km of of freshly tracked cross-country skiing lines. Nearby Zell am Ziller offers a huge network of 6 cross-country lines, when there is enough snow.
Snow-tubing: The skiing area of Gerlosstein has set up special runs, where you can enjoy a thrilling 'slide down' on a tube. It is a fantastic alternative to skiing or snowboarding and provides excitement off the pistes.
