About us - The Wildauer family

Living life consciously and with purpose is important to us! That's why we place great value on the regionality of our products from sustainable cultivation. As a family establishment in the second generation we want to impress you with our informal and cordial charm and give you as our guest unforgettable holidays with our genuine hospitality.

Annabella

After successfully graduating from the school of hotel management in Zell am Ziller, I gained my first professional experience in foreign establishments. From 2003 I managed the Almhof Lackner and in 2009 I took over the business from my parents in full. My main focus is on service and looking after our guests - personal contact is something I hold especially dear.

Family, health, joy and a little happiness - those are the most important things in life to me.

To recharge my batteries I like taking some time out in our beautiful nature. My favourite place is Lake Zireiner in the Rofan Mountains. This idyllic spot is also known as "the blue eye of Tirol".

Andreas

Born in 1979 in Schwaz, I managed my parents photo studio after having completed my apprenticeship as a photographer. Through my wife Annabella I then discovered a love and passion for the hotel industry. Since 2013 I've been managing the kitchen in Almhof Lackner and take great joy in spoiling our guests with culinary treats. In addition, as "man of the house", I take care of garden design and house maintenance.

In my free time I enjoy motorcycling in our wonderful landscape or go to the fitness studio.

I also support charity projects for children with much commitment, such as children's cancer charity, Make-A-Wish-Foundation, etc.

Our history - How it all began

  • In 1631, Paul Wildauer constructed the 'Lacknerhof'. At the time, the farm consisted of a farmhouse and stables.
  • The 'Lacknerhof' was the cornerstone for the Hotel 'Almhof Lackner', which was completed in 1974 - built by great-grandson Hermann Wildauer (born 1941) and his spouse Maria Wind from Achensee (born 1948).
  • Apart from the hotel industry, Hermann Wildauer had another great passion that attracted much interest : woodcarving and sculpting.
  • From the very beginning, the Wildauer family always placed great value on a modern appearance of the hotel. It was one of the first houses in Zillertal in which all rooms featured their own bathroom and already in the 80s the hotel boasted its own indoor pool and a wellness zone.
  • Her daughter Annabella (born 1982) grew up amidst the living hotel together with her siblings. It soon became clear to everyone that she also had a love for Almhof Lackner - and so in 2009 it was finally time for Annabella to take over her parents' business.
  • In May 2010, Annabella married her long-term boyfriend Andreas and in 2015 sunshine Helena made the family complete.
  • Annabella and husband Andreas had the Almhof Lackner extensively renovated in autumn of 2010. A fourth floor was added, the existing rooms redesigned and enlarged, another 10 rooms were added, a new staircase, lift and balconies - and after 11 weeks of building everything was completed with a new roof.
  • In 2018 the terrace was enlarged - perfect for enjoying a coffee with views of the beautiful mountainscape of Zillertal. Where your heart feels at ease is where your home is.

Woodcraft in Almhof Lackner

When you walk through our hotel, the many works of woodcraft and sculpting are sure to catch your attention. These artful works were crafted by our senior chef Hermann Wildauer. He taught himself the necessary skills and in 1976 perfected his craft in Grödnertal (South Tyrol) under the tutelage of two master sculptors.

Highlights of his works in the hotel include:

  • The panelling of the ceiling in the hotel lobby as well as sections of the current reception.
  • In the entrance to our wellness zone you'll find the figure "Leda with the Swan" (Greek mythology) from Italian marble (Rosso Portogallo)
  • Left and right of the main entrance, the two figures "rifle man & sutler"
  • Welcome youIn the restaurant the wooden figure of Tirolean freedom fighter "Andreas Hofer" keeps a watchful eye on our guests.
  • Numerous further objects by our senior chef can be found on a tour through our establishment.

The peak of his craft as a woodcarver and sculptor was no doubt in 1983, when in the name of the state of Tirol a nativity set carved by him was presented to Pope Johannes Paul ll.
